Registration and Workshops

Can I pay with a Debit Card?

No, only Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards are accepted for both online and mailed/faxed registrations. Mailed/Faxed registrations can also pay by check or purchase order.

Can I pay with a Purchase Order (P.O.) online?

No. Purchase Orders must be submitted with a mailed or faxed registration (pp. 8-10 of brochure).

 Is it possible online to pay only the $75 deposit mentioned in the brochure?

No. The $75 deposit (with the remainder paid later) can only be done by mailed or faxed registration (pp. 8-10 of brochure).

 I can only attend the 5-day workshop for 1, 2 or 3 days. Can I pay a partial tuition?

No. We have found that part-time participation is disruptive to the flow of the workshop learning sequence. If you can only attend for 4 of the 5 days, that is OK, but full tuition is required.

 If I register now and find out that I cannot attend, what is the policy?

Music Workshops will refund your money. There is a $25 processing fee for all cancellations before May 15, and a $75 fee after May 15.

 If I register for one workshop site, can I change my registration to a different site later?

Yes. Just notify our Registrar by email at

 Can I register for the Oconomowoc, WI workshop without choosing a Housing/Meals option?

No. This workshop is a “resident workshop” where 95% of the participants stay at the Olympia Resort, and commuters also eat all their meals on-site. The advantages of this “resident” site are the sense of community that is built among the participants as well as the interchange of ideas. We want all participants, including commuters, to be part of this community.

 Can I book Housing/Meals online for workshops sites other than Wisconsin?

You can’t book these as part of our online registration, but if you go to pp. 11-15 of the PDF brochure you will find a hotel for each site. You can then call or go online to book your workshop accommodations. Meals for these workshops are on your own.

 I’m not sure if I want to take the workshop for non-credit or for 3 G semester credits. Can I Upgrade to 3 G credits later if I sign up for non-credit now?

Yes. You can Upgrade by sending in $320 to our Registrar in Minneapolis (see p. 10 of brochure). You cannot Upgrade online. Consult the Graduate credit page for details on adding credits once class has begun.

 Can I register for the new Drum It Forward tuition ($299) if I am an UG senior and expect to graduate in May/June before the workshop?

Yes. We realize that you will probably not be getting your first teaching paycheck until September, so we want to make it possible to get a head start on your profession.

 Is the workshop available for UG credit?

No, we only grant 3 Graduate semester credits in cooperation with the VanderCook College of Music.

 What sort of certification do I get at the end of the 5-day workshop?

All participants receive a Certificate stating that they successfully completed the workshop. They also receive a Verification Letter stating that they completed 38 clock hours of instruction (32 in WA). 3 G semester credit participants will receive notification of their grade from VanderCook College of Music. A transcript from VanderCook is available by request.
